These photos demonstrate the step by step process we go through with our customers. Below a 36" round concrete pot is being modified to accommodate a 1 1/2” hole for the valve and another hole at the bottom for the natural gas line.

Here the gas line and valve are connected along with the flex line that will ultimately connect to the stainless steel burner.

These outdoor propane fire table / fire pit pictures come to us from Doug Robertson.  We helped Doug build his dream fire table all through Emails and phone conversations.  So check out the progress from start to finish.

Doug Robertson Doug Robertson

We sent him an Aluminum pan and an H-burner designed to work safely with propane, as well several pounds of  1/2" Clear Base Glass FireGlass and Mini Mint Green Diamonds.

Doug Robertson Doug Robertson

Here is what Doug had to say:

"Good Morning Ed,

Just wanted to drop you a note and thank you very much for all your e-mail
help with my Fire Coffee Table. We have used it every night since I got it
going and have received many-many compliments about it."

This fireplace was almost completed until we discovered that the customer installed tile that was not rated for fire - meaning the tile would of popped off as soon as the fire was turned on.

So back to the drawing board.  But this time we advised that the customers use card board mock up, so that they could get a preview of the project.  This keeps the error of margin to a minimum, allowing for the mistakes to be made on paper.

Below you can see the bottom, top and mantle in card board.

So now that the pre-planning is done, the rip and tear process begins.

Below the framing begins as well as the electrical components for the TV.

The slate begins to be put in place.

Here we are at about 90% finished.  The inside of the fireplace will have 3 pieces of black galaxy granite installed.

Christy's Fireplace 19 Christy's Fireplace 20

Now for the fire glass installation. We started with a satin black paint on the fireplace walls.  Then we bulked up the base with 2" of sand.   If you decide to use a darker color glass we advise you use dark crushed lava rock as a filler. Then make sure the burner is located in a position that wont have the flames hit the walls and cause soot.

With all that settled all there is to do is pour the Starfire Base Glass FireGlass.

Christy's Fireplace 23 Christy's Fireplace 24

We added a few Pink Diamonds and then later added Ice Ice Ice Toppers and Clear Diamonds.

The sealer that was used was a stone enhancer, not just a regular cheap sealer. When using rock you always want to see the beauty of the stone you are using.

He then poured some Clear Base Glass and was done! How's that for a DIY Fireplace!
